Background Information:

Board Policy #3.500 – Food Service Management needs a slight amendment. Although the recommended change actually represents procedure instead of policy, the State Department of Child Nutrition requires such language to be in Board Policy. Beginning on page 1, line 30, the sentence needs to read “For lunch, a student must take the full portions of no fewer than three of the five food items offered, one of which must be a fruit or vegetable.”

Staff Recommendation:

I recommend approval of this amendment to Board Policy #3.500 – Food Service Management on first reading.
